  • My name is Joseph Mews, and I am thrilled to be a part of GSC's Graduate Studies division as a lecturer. I currently reside in South Carolina, and have worked in higher education administration since 2011 in various capacities for both public and private universities. Prior to that, I led parks and recreation programs for three years. In line with my academic interests, my professional experience has primarily involved team and organizational leadership, strategic planning and assessment, and change management.

    Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is centered on an active learning environment where students are enabled to develop personally, academically, and professionally. I feel this environment can be realized through clear communication, relevant and applicable assignments and activities, collaborative learning opportunities, accessible resources, timely support, and personalized feedback. I encourage critical thinking and application of knowledge through real-world scenario activities. These prepare students to apply their acquired knowledge to relevant situations rather than simply requiring rote memorization. My teaching practices—in traditional and online settings—are transparent and intended to prompt participation, analysis, interpretation, comprehension, and application.
